The leopard is one of the five extant species in the genus Panthera, a member of the cat family, Felidae.
It occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa, in some parts of Western and Central Asia, Southern Russia, and on the Indian subcontinent to Southeast and East Asia.
The most common difference between these two animals is the patterns on their coat.
At first glance, it may look like they both have spots, but in actual fact, a leopard has rosettes which are rose-like markings, and cheetahs have a solid round or oval spot shape.
Cheetahs are the fastest land animals.
